Dirk Johann5.1 Innovation in der Wissensgesellschaft Dirk Johann, born 1972, is a social scientist with an expertise in industrial and economic sociology, innovation research and development economics. He studied sociology, philosophy and economics at the University of Freiburg, Germany (M.A.), the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and the London School of Economics and Political Science (MSc). In his PhD (Freiburg) he analysed the reconfiguration of the Korean latecomer innovation system in the context of emerging biotechnology. Dirk Johann has working experience with the European Commission (DG Enterprise, Innovation Directorate) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). He worked as a consultant for Consumers International (London) and the Prognos AG (Berlin) in fields related to international development and regional innovation strategies. He has been Marie Curie research fellow at the University of Sussex (SPRU). In his function as scientific project manager at the ZSI he is responsible for projects of international RTD co-operation, with a particular focus on S&T co-operation between the European Union and Latin America such as for example the FP6 project LAC-ACCESS (Connecting High-Quality Research between the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean Countries) and the FP7 project EULARINET European Union Latin American Research and Innovation NETworks. In addition, he is the scientific coordinator of the FP7 project EULAKS Connecting Socio-Economic Research on the Dynamics of the Knowledge Society in the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean Countries. |
